Why did I decide to open a company for my freelancer career? Can ‘It’s time to upgrade your freelance business!” be the reason to open a company when you are working as a freelancer? The answer to my case is NOT REALLY!! The main reason for me is to work legally in France. In this article, I will describe briefly what need to prepare to set up a company as a freelancer, especially in France.

The first thing to do is to think thoroughly about the idea of working as a freelancer. Are you sure that it is your long-term choice of career? Have you got already a sustainable network of doing business at this moment? What can the pros and cons? Most importantly, are you determined enough to devote your effort, time and patience for this serious business?

In my case, all the answer is YES. Lucky me, right? Besides, there is a very big motivation for me to choose this path of career is the comfort of working at home while I am still able to take care of my little baby! 😊 Sounds so great, ah ha!!

Secondly, as everyone can assume and agree, I have to prepare all stuffs related to legal process. Which company business model can be? In my case, I choose the ‘Micro-enterprise’, where you are the boss, the sole employee, your accountant, marketing officer, etc. For most of freelancers, this is somehow a certainty while those are normal and daily tasks of any freelancer in this world. Next is to prepare all documents, your invoice samples, your tax reports, etc. All will take plenty efforts.

Afterwards, let’s have some warm-up time as to ask for advices from your network, search for any supports (government, accounting, associations, community, family, etc.) for legal advices, finances, and mental supports. We have to do all of those whenever we do all other works – let’s do and get experience time over time. Just practice makes perfect!

If any of you have any question, please comment below and I will try to response the soonest. Along with that, please let’s wish me best of luck! 😊
